Juni 1819 in K\u00f6ln geboren und wurde 1860 franz\u00f6sischer Staatsb\u00fcrger, ab 1833 \u201eeroberte\u201c er Paris. Nach einem Aufenthalt an dem Conservatoire und im Orchestergraben der Op\u00e9ra-Comique (als Cellist), lernte er <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/halevy-jacques-francois-fromental-elie-1799-1862\/\">Hal\u00e9vy<\/a> kennen, der ihm half die Fertigkeit der Komposition zu entwickeln. Von Flotow ist es zu verdanken, dass er in den Pariser Salons als virtuoser Musiker bekannt wurde, bevor er Dirigent am Theater der Com\u00e9die-Fran\u00e7aise wurde.<\/p>\n<p>Angesichts der hartn\u00e4ckigen Weigerung der Direktoren der Oper und der Op\u00e9ra-Comique, beschloss er sein eigenes Theater auf der Champs-Elys\u00e9es zu gr\u00fcnden, anl\u00e4sslich der ersten Weltausstellung von 1855. Anschlie\u00dfend bezog das Theater die Passage de Choiseul, wo das Theater noch immer den Namen \u201eBoffes-Parisiens\u201c tr\u00e4gt. 1858 schuf er das St\u00fcck Orph\u00e9e aux Enfers (zu seinen Lebzeiten sollte das St\u00fcck mehr als 1000-mal aufgef\u00fchrt werden).<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright  wp-image-26913\" src=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/offenbach_vu_par_joseph_keppler_1878_recto_carte_380px_vertic.jpg\" alt=\"offenbach_vu_par_joseph_keppler_1878_recto_carte_380px_vertic.jpg\" width=\"246\" height=\"347\" align=\"right\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/offenbach_vu_par_joseph_keppler_1878_recto_carte_380px_vertic.jpg 269w, https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/offenbach_vu_par_joseph_keppler_1878_recto_carte_380px_vertic-212x300.jpg 212w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 246px) 100vw, 246px\" \/>Offenbachs wurde nach kurzer Zeit weltbekannt und er setzte sich schlie\u00dflich 1867 mit der 2. Weltausstellung in Paris durch, insbesondere mit <em>La Vie parisienne<\/em> und <em>La Grande-duchesse de G\u00e9rolstein<\/em>, dargeboten von Hortense Schneider. Mit dem Sturz Napoleons III. und seines Kaiserreichs erlebte Offenbach eine gewisse Entfremdung zugunsten Lecoqs, die nur durch seine letzten Erfolge kompensiert wurde: <em>La Fille du r\u00e9giment<\/em> im Jahr 1879 und seine letzte Oper, die wenige Monate nach seinem Tod (4.\/5. Oktober 1880) uraufgef\u00fchrt wurde: <em>Les Contes d\u2019Hoffmann<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Offenbach wird auch heute noch oft f\u00e4lschlicherweise als der \u201eVater der Operette\u201c angesehen, dennoch ist er unbestreitbar der Meister eines \u201eBuffa\u201c-Genres, das ganz Europa beeinflusste und die Wiener (Strauss, Lehar) und englischen (Gilbert &amp; Sullivan) Operetten hervorbrachte.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft  wp-image-26915\" src=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/jean-claude_biojout_redim.jpg\" alt=\"jean-claude_biojout_redim.jpg\" width=\"147\" height=\"210\" align=\"left\" \/>Jean-Philippe Biojout ist ein Operns\u00e4nger und Regisseur, der bereits mehrfach mit dem heiteren Repertoire Offenbach gearbeitet hat. \u00dcber 176 Seiten wagt er sich nun an die Herausforderung, Leben und Werk eines vielbesch\u00e4ftigten Autoren (von mehr als 100 lyrischen St\u00fccken) zu res\u00fcmieren und liefert uns eine bisher unver\u00f6ffentlichte Biografie, die 64 Zusammenfassungen, 63 Musikbeispiele und mehr als 100 zeitgen\u00f6ssische Abbildungen (Darsteller, Kost\u00fcme, Kulissen, Plakate, \u2026) umfasst. Auch wenn die Biografie nicht den Anspruch erhebt, so umfassend zu sein, wie das monumentale Werk von Jean-Claude Yon (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gallimard.fr\/Catalogue\/GALLIMARD\/NRF-Biographies\/Jacques-Offenbach\"><em>Jacques Offenbach<\/em><\/a>, Gallimard, 2000), \u00a0so ist sie doch, nicht weniger
