Die Lieder russischer Gefangener in Sibirien in\u00a0<em>Kalyma<\/em>\u00a0(2012), die Melancholie des portugiesischen Fado in\u00a0<em>Alfama<\/em>\u00a0(2015) und die Einsamkeit, die der Verlust eines geliebten Menschen mit sich bringt, in\u00a0<em>Zimlya<\/em>\u00a0(2019).<\/p>\n<p>In <em>Soul of Yiddish<\/em>, ihrem f\u00fcnften Album, geht es nicht mehr um das Exil, sondern um das Reisen. No\u00ebmi Waysfeld liefert einen intimen und spirituellen Bericht \u00fcber ein Wesen auf der Suche nach dem Auffliegen. Eine Erkundung ihrer Wurzeln, f\u00fcr die sie sich mit der Geigerin Sarah Nemtanu, dem Gitarristen Kevin Seddiki und dem Kontrabassisten Antoine Rozenbaum umgeben hat.<\/p>\n<p>No\u00ebmi Waysfelds Stimme, die hier der einer Geschichtenerz\u00e4hlerin \u00e4hnelt, ist sandig, verschleiert, wie der sanfte Schein einer Kerze. Und zum kr\u00f6nenden Abschluss des Albums interpretiert sie das\u00a0<em>Kol Nidrei<\/em>, das Gebet, das die Jom-Kippur-Feierlichkeiten er\u00f6ffnet.<\/p>\n<p>Wie Rabbinerin Delphine Horvilleur in der Einleitung des Booklets von\u00a0<em>Soul of Yiddish<\/em>\u00a0in Erinnerung ruft, war es Frauen in der Geschichte der j\u00fcdischen Religion oft nicht verg\u00f6nnt, die Gebete zu singen.
