Er erlernte die Komposition bei Zeller und zu seinen Sch\u00fclern z\u00e4hlte Carl-Maria von Weber. Um seine F\u00e4higkeiten zu perfektionieren, ging er nach Italien, italienisierte seinen Vornamen und landete ihm Jahr 1824, mit <em>Il Crociato in Egitto<\/em>, am Teatro La Fenice in Venedig, seinen ersten Erfolg.<\/p>\n<p>Nachdem er sich in Paris niedergelassen hatte, schuf er <em>Robert le Diable<\/em> (1824), welches Spontinis (1774-1851) <em>Fernand Cortez<\/em> folgend, die franz\u00f6sische Grand Op\u00e9ra begr\u00fcndete, deren weltweit bester Vertreter der Komponist wurde. Dieser Erfolg wurde vier Jahre sp\u00e4ter, mit demselben Librettisten, Eug\u00e8ne Scribe, in <em>Les Huguenots <\/em>best\u00e4tigt.<\/p>\n<p>Auch wenn Meyerbeer zum Musikdirektor des preu\u00dfischen Hofes in Berlin ernannt wurde, erhielt er dabei jedoch nie die Anerkennung seiner deutschen Komponisten-Kollegen. Er kehrte schlie\u00dflich zur\u00fcck, um sein St\u00fcck <em>Le Proph\u00e8te<\/em> (1849) zu pr\u00e4sentieren und starb in Paris, vor der Vollendung seiner letzten Oper, <em>L\u2019Africaine<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00dcber die Autorin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Violaine Anger ist eine ehemalige Lehrerin f\u00fcr Musikgeschichte am Conservatoire National Sup\u00e9rieur de Musique (CNSM) in Paris und Dozentin an der Universit\u00e4t von Evry Val-d&#8217;Essonne sowie an der Ecole Polytechnique.<\/p>\n<p>Der Schwerpunkt ihrer Forschung, liegt auf der Beziehung zwischen Ausdruck, Sprache und Musik. Sie hat das Buch <em>Sens de la musique<\/em> (Presses de la rue d\u2019Ulm, Paris, 2006) sowie zahlreicher Artikel verfasst.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bne.fr\/page169.html\" target=\"_blank\"
