Die pr\u00e4chtige Stimme von Salim Halali, der 1920 in Annaba (damals B\u00f4ne) in Algerien geboren wurde, zeugt vom j\u00fcdisch-maghrebinischen Liedgut der Jahre 1940 bis 1965.<\/p>\n<p>Salim Halali war eine der sch\u00f6nsten Stimmen des maghrebinischen Chansons in allen Genres. Heute kann eine neue Generation manchmal einige seiner Titel summen, die vom Orchestre National de Barb\u00e8s (<em>Dour Biha Ya Chibani<\/em>) oder La Mano Negra (<em>Sidi H&#8217;bibi<\/em>) gut gef\u00f6rdert werden, w\u00e4hrend sie die Identit\u00e4t des urspr\u00fcnglichen Interpreten nicht kennt.<\/p>\n<p>Salim, der am 30. Juli 1920 in Annaba (damals B\u00f4ne) in einer j\u00fcdischen Berberfamilie von B\u00e4ckern geboren wurde, tr\u00e4umte anfangs von einer Karriere als spanischer S\u00e4nger. Als er 1934 nach einem Umweg \u00fcber Marseille in Paris ankam, versuchte er sich im sogenannten Sevillana-Repertoire, das vor allem von den Erfolgen der franz\u00f6sisch-italienischen S\u00e4ngerin Rina Ketty, der Interpretin von <em>J&#8217;attendrai,<\/em> gepr\u00e4gt war. Seine honigs\u00fc\u00dfe Stimme blieb nicht unbemerkt. Danach beschloss er, sich f\u00fcr das maghrebinische Erbe einzusetzen. Seine neue Berufung startete mit Pauken und Trompeten im gr\u00f6\u00dften Kino von Marseille und er tourte auch in anderen St\u00e4dten Frankreichs.<\/p>\n<p>Salim wurde fast von den N\u00e4chten und Nebeln der Nazis verschluckt und verdankte seine Rettung nur dem Eingreifen des Rektors der Pariser Moschee. Nach der Befreiung kehrte Salim zur Musik zur\u00fcck, und wieder verf\u00fchrten, verwirrten und setzten in Brand seine majest\u00e4tischen Stimmb\u00e4nder, seine Beckengestik und sein Darbuka-Spiel die Tanzfl\u00e4chen verschiedener orientalischer Clubs. Als reicher Mann (er hielt den Rekord f\u00fcr den Verkauf von Alben mit maghrebinischem Gesang und wurde von den reichsten M\u00e4nnern der arabischen Welt f\u00fcr Hochzeiten engagiert) \u00fcbernahm er 1947 das Pariser Stadthaus von Ferdinand de Lesseps in der Avenue Montaigne, das er in eine luxuri\u00f6se Diskothek namens \u201eIsma\u00eflia Folies\u201c umwandelte, und im Jahr darauf er\u00f6ffnete er \u201eLe S\u00e9rail\u201c. Dieser Schwung wurde durch den Verlust all seiner Geschwister zerst\u00f6rt.<\/p>\n<p>Entmutigt und gebeutelt fl\u00fcchtete er nach Marokko, wo er herzlich aufgenommen wurde. Bis zu seinem R\u00fcckzug 1965 verbrachte er viele gl\u00fcckliche Jahre mit erfolgreichen Albumaufnahmen und B\u00fchnenauftritten.
