Sirba Octet

With the founding of the Sirba Octet in 2003, the violinist Richard Schmoucler created a new sound, inventing something that did not exist. He then joined forces with arrangers Cyrille Lehn and Yann Ollivo and five of his musician friends from the Orchestre de Paris, a pianist and a traditional cymbalist to form the Sirba Octet. This singular ensemble, halfway between classical academism and klezmer music, revives the musical tradition of Eastern Europe by rearranging it according to the rules of academic music.
