Songs and Prayers of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kipour

Hélène Blajan

The Tichri holidays are at the same time a moment of joy and repentance. The traditional melodies of Roch Hashanah and Yom Kipour, that reflect the duality of these feelings, participate to the soul’s elevation during this important time of the Jewish life.

To this occasion has been published a CD gathering 35 songs and prayers of these two celebrations in the Ashkenazi ritual. It is not the first time that is released in France a disc with the traditional melodies of the Tichri holidays. However, the usage of a woman’s voice – due to the growth of reformed Jewish communities – gives to it a particular flavor.

The singer Hélène Blajan, who is part of the orchestra’s choral of Radio France, is supported by a magnificent men’s choral. The organ, played by Raphaël Tambyeff, blends in perfectly, with modesty, intimacy, and majestically on the right moments. Let’s mention the presence of Maurice Benhamou on the musical direction, who was the choirmaster in the Great Synagogue of La Victoire in Paris during 30 years.

This CD is not yet distributed, you can contact directly the singer to purchase the CD: helene.blajan@orange.fr
