Daniel, Itaï (1967)

Born in Israel, Itaï Daniel is a composer, pianist and conductor. He begins his musical studies by learning piano with internationally renowned teachers such as Jonathan Zak, Boris Guslitzer or Victor Derevianko, and then begins viola and takes classes in harmony. In 1991 he enters the Academy of Music of Tel Aviv University, where he studies conducting and choral conducting with Noam Sherif and Avner Itai.

In 1995, Itaï Daniel leaves Israel for the United States, where he works as a conductor. At the same time, he continues his career as a pianist, starts teaching vocal technique and trains professional singers, a teaching that will be essential to his composition work.

Since 2004, now based in Paris, he decides to fully devote himself to composition. Among his major works in the Jewish tradition are three large cantatas Machzor Chayim, Shma Koleinu and B’reshït and many compositions based on the major Jewish prayers and texts (Yotzer, Haskivenu, Shalom Rav, Kaddish, Oseh Shalom, Adon Olam). He is also the author of a grand sonata as well as a toccata for the piano and a sonata for flute-solo. His works have been performed in England, the United States, Germany, South Africa, and France.

Since 2009, Itaï Daniel is the conductor of the Copernic Choral Ensemble in Paris, now recognized as one of the best Jewish choirs in Europe.
