Metropolitan Klezmer is a band from New-York created by Eve Sicular in 1994. Their musical repertoire, mainly yiddish songs, is composed of wedding dances, folk tunes, from klezmer, Turkish or Arab traditions, or Yiddish poems of after the war.
Hélène Engel lets us discover their 5th album : Mazel Means Good Luck, released in 2014. Album recorded live at the Emelin Theatre (with bonus tracks of Cooper Union Great Hall and J. Edgar Klezmer).
Hélène Engel is a singer, musicologist, author, composer and arranger. She is interested in all aspects of Jewish music, from the collecting of historical sounds to today’s compositions. Based in Montreal, she hosts the radio show " The hidden sides of Jewish Music" on Radio SHALOM Montreal.
