Mimouna
Mimouna is a three century old North African celebration, especially followed by Moroccan Jews.
It is celebrated after the last day of Passover. It is traditional to eat many sweet cakes with yeast, like moufleta pancakes, with honey or jam, and often grilled meat. It is also an occasion to share a meal with neighbours.
Created in 1981 and broadcasted on Judaïques FM La fête orientale is a live radio show hosted by Maurice Azoulay in which the listeners can dedicated Judeo-Arabic or Israeli songs to people if their choice, in a friendly atmosphere.
Maurice Azoulay is born in Meknès in Morocco. He was the first DJ in Paris to play Jewish music in 1981. He hosts two programs on Judaïques FM, The Oriental Feast and Neim Zemirot.
