Judeo-Spanish singing by women from Morocco

A radio program by the French Center for Jewish Music, hosted by Hervé Roten.

MUSIQUES JUIVES D’HIER ET D’AUJOURD’HUI - TUESDAY OCTOBER 23rd 2012, JUDAÏQUES FM, 21H05

In Morocco, Jewish women are the keeper of a great repertoire of Judeo-Spanish songs (lullabies, wedding songs…) that shows the evolution of a traditional Jewish way of life that is still very alive.

With the contribution of Vanessa Paloma, researcher at the Hadassah Brandeis Institute from Brandeis University (Boston –USA).
Author of a research around the profound links between music, traditions and beliefs in the Jewish and Muslim populations of Morocco, Vanessa Paloma is also a great artist that plays brilliantly these Jewish Moroccan themes all over the world.
