DESCRIPTION:Klezmer Playday  \n29 March\, Kings Cross\, London\, 11am-3.30pm \nEnjoy playing and learning more about klezmer at a fun and relaxed day-long mini-fest\, open to all instruments. The day will be a smorgasbord of sessions\, giving the flavour of KlezMargate\, a new seaside klezmer festival that will take place 18-20 October 2024. \nMore info & registration: https://forms.gle/HFbxUcQ8i4jVGLAQ9 \nFaculty\nIlana Cravitz (violin & dance)\nJohn Macnaughton (clarinet & sax)\nDaniel Gouly (clarinet) \nMinimum standard: grade 4 or equivalent. No ability to read music or prior klezmer experience is necessary. \nCost: £15-£25 \nKlezmer Youth Workshop  \n1 April\, London\, 11.30am-3.30pm \nA workshop in central London for young people (aged 8-18) to learn more about klezmer music. All instruments are welcome. \nSuitable for both newcomers to the genre and seasoned players\, the day will include: \n– Learning klezmer music by ear\, including melody\, inner parts\, rhythm\, and bass lines\n– Understanding about klezmer modes and dances\n– Practising ornamentation\n– Arranging material\n– Discussing performance skills \nTutors: Ilana Cravitz (violin) and John Macnaughton (clarinet & sax) \nMinimum standard: grade 4 or equivalent.
