{"id":128978,"date":"2026-01-11T12:39:18","date_gmt":"2026-01-11T11:39:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/arnold-schonberg-henriette-bosmans-joseph-kosma\/"},"modified":"2026-01-20T09:52:54","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T08:52:54","slug":"arnold-schonberg-henriette-bosmans-joseph-kosma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/en\/arnold-schonberg-henriette-bosmans-joseph-kosma\/","title":{"rendered":"Arnold Sch\u00f6nberg, Henri\u00ebtte Bosmans, Joseph Kosma"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Hortus Editions, vol. 1: Nov. 2024, vol. 2: June 2025, vol. 3: Dec. 2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the artistic direction of <a href=\"https:\/\/thomastacquet.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Thomas Tacquet<\/a> and Dimitri Malignan, <a href=\"https:\/\/voixetouffees.net\/en\/vemv-collection\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Voix Etouff\u00e9es \u2013 Missing Voices<\/a> is a collection dedicated to composers who were victims of totalitarianism, particularly those persecuted by Nazism, whether famous or unknown, condemned to silence or exile, murdered or who died in deportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hortus Editions, in collaboration with Forum Voix \u00c9touff\u00e9es and the Missing Voices project, has planned the release of eight CDs between 2024 and 2026, which will be devoted to the works of Arnold Sch\u00f6nberg, Henri\u00ebtte Bosmans, Joseph Kosma, Dan Belinfante, Erich Itor Kahn, and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of 2025, Thomas Tacquet presented the first three volumes of this collection to the European Institute of Jewish Music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-background is-style-wide\" style=\"background-color:#000000;color:#000000\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns are-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>Arnold Sch\u00f6nberg, l&#8217;arrangeur arrang\u00e9<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"269\" src=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/COUV-CD-SCH_JR-300x269.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-128816\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.115274743740548;object-fit:cover;width:340px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/COUV-CD-SCH_JR-300x269.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/COUV-CD-SCH_JR.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The last recording by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/en\/du-closel-amaury-1956-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amaury du Closel<\/a> (1956 &#8211; 2024), founder of the Forum Voix Etouff\u00e9es in 2005, this recording presents three major works by Arnold Sch\u00f6nberg: <em>First Chamber Symphony, Erste Kammersymphonie op. 9; The Book of Hanging Gardens, Das Buch der h\u00e4ngenden G\u00e4rten op. 15; Five Pieces for Orchestra, F\u00fcnf Orchesterst\u00fccke op. 16<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/en\/schonberg-arnold-1874-1951\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arnold Sch\u00f6nberg<\/a> \u2013 or Schoenberg &#8211;&nbsp;(1874-1951) was a German composer who revolutionized music in the first half of the 20th century. A renowned theorist, painter, author, and arranger, he was an exceptional figure. Converted to Protestantism in 1898 like many assimilated Jews, he suffered from the rise of anti-Semitism in the 1920s. Her career had already been seriously interrupted by the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands and the anti-Semitic persecution she faced. His play <em>\u00c0 la Belle \u00e9toile<\/em> (1935) marked his Parisian debut: his meeting with Pr\u00e9vert, his political struggles, his film scores, and his songs. This album also aims to reveal little-known\u2014or even never-before-recorded\u2014works for choir, piano, and voice, written over the course of his encounters, particularly with resistance fighters Madeleine Riffaud and Henri Bassis, and in keeping with a revolutionary ideal (<em>Si nous mourrons<\/em>, written based on Ethel Rosenberg&#8217;s letter to her two sons).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This recording is beautifully performed by soprano Catherine Trottmann, mezzo-soprano Anne-Lise Polchlopek, violinist David Moreau, and the Fiat Cantus choir, conducted and accompanied on piano by Thomas
