During this meeting, Batia Baum speaks of the personality and fascinating work of the poet Avrom Sutzkever. A mind-blowing work in which the poet sees stars in the gutters of Vilno\u2019s ghetto, or dreams of a sunset in his own blood mixed with lime. Sutzkever\u2019s Yiddish poetry thus foils the atrocity by recreating the world with an interjection of life and beauty&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Seduced by the texts of this great poet, Olivier Milhaud felt the need to write music on it. And it\u2019s with his meeting, in 2015, with the singer M\u00e9lanie Gardyn and in 2016 with the pianist Natacha Medvedeva that the Sutzkever Project will see light, and will receive in 2017 the 1st prize of the\u00a0<em>Amsterdam\u2019s International Festival of Jewish Music<\/em>\u00a0as well as the\u00a0<em>Mira Rafalowicz award<\/em>\u00a0for best Yiddish performance.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-22740\" src=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/cd_1140_couv4_-_redim.jpg\" alt=\"cd_1140_couv4_-_redim.jpg\" width=\"341\" height=\"300\" align=\"right\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/cd_1140_couv4_-_redim.jpg 341w, https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/cd_1140_couv4_-_redim-300x264.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 341px) 100vw, 341px\" \/>The CD\u00a0<em>Sutzkever Project<\/em>, released in 2018, gathers 12 poems by Avrom Sutzkever that refer to very different themes and universes: the Siberian nature linked to a father\u2019s death (<em>Sibir<\/em>), nature incarnated in two loving and fusional trees, (<em>tsvey beymer<\/em>), an abandoned nest (<em>Di farloyrene nest<\/em>), the prayer and memory of a grand-father (<em>Tikn os<\/em>), the Genesis and fall of heaven (<em>Der boym fun lebn, Der boym fun visn<\/em>),the horror, transfigured in a kind of paint-poem, of vision (<em>Farfroyrene yidn, ikh lig in an orn<\/em>), the horror again in a cynical melody (<em>A vogn shikh<\/em>), the hallucination of a sunset in lime as a poem\u2019s verses (<em>Di sturmisten<\/em>) or the disillusion of a time (<em>Penemer in zumpn<\/em>), a mystical interrogation (<em>Tsou vemen geher ikh ?<\/em>), words that come to life \u2013 the fiddle-rose (<em>Di fidlroyz<\/em>), an appearance or a dream ?
