En diciembre de 2012, bajo la direcci\u00f3n conjunta de la Universit\u00e9 Paris 4 Sorbonne y de la Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al, finaliz\u00f3 su tesis doctoral sobre el siguiente tema: \u00abVivre la musique jud\u00e9o-espagnole en France. De la collecte \u00e0 la patrimonialisation, l&#8217;artiste et la communaut\u00e9\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>El libro que publicar\u00e1 en 2018 con Editions Presses Universitaires de Rennes <em>Se r\u00e9inventer au pr\u00e9sent &#8211; Les Jud\u00e9o-espagnols de France &#8211; Famille, communaut\u00e9 et patrimoine musical<\/em> se deriva directamente de su trabajo de tesis.<\/p>\n<p>En la primera parte de este libro, Jessica Roda examina el proceso de construcci\u00f3n de una identidad judeo-espa\u00f1ola, primero en Espa\u00f1a, luego en el Imperio Otomano y finalmente en Francia. En Francia, a partir de principios de los a\u00f1os ochenta, varias asociaciones fomentaron el renacimiento de una vida cultural judeo-espa\u00f1ola, expresada en particular mediante la organizaci\u00f3n de conciertos en los que la m\u00fasica y la lengua reviv\u00edan un patrimonio olvidado. Estos conciertos favorecieron la aparici\u00f3n de artistas especializados en la canci\u00f3n judeo-espa\u00f1ola, como Sandra Bessis, Stella Gutman, H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Obadia y Marl\u00e8ne Samoun.<\/p>\n<p>El repertorio de estos artistas se basa en notaciones musicales (debidas, en particular, a las colecciones etnogr\u00e1ficas de Alberto Hemsi (1896-1975), L\u00e9on Algazi (1890-1971) e Isaac L\u00e9vy (1919-1977)), as\u00ed como en las primeras grabaciones de m\u00fasica judeo-espa\u00f1ola iniciadas en el Imperio Otomano en 1906-1907 (Salomon Effendi, Haim Effendi, Isaac Algazi, Jacob Algava, Albert Beressi&#8230;).<\/p>\n<p>En las d\u00e9cadas de 1950 y 1960, per\u00edodo caracterizado por el revivalismo cultural, los judeo-espa\u00f1oles, establecidos principalmente en Estados Unidos, Israel, Francia y B\u00e9lgica, formaron una comunidad transnacional en busca de un sentimiento de identidad. En Francia, el renacimiento judeo-espa\u00f1ol empez\u00f3 en 1982 con la publicaci\u00f3n de los Romances de Esther Lamandier, a los que siguieron las grabaciones de H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Engel (La Serena, 1988) y Fran\u00e7oise Atlan (Romances sefard\u00edes, 1992). En la d\u00e9cada de 2000, la cantante israel\u00ed Yasmin L\u00e9vy obtuvo un reconocimiento considerable por su interpretaci\u00f3n del repertorio judeo-espa\u00f1ol, que mezcla con el flamenco.<\/p>\n<p>En la segunda parte de su libro, Jessica Roda se propone analizar las pr\u00e1cticas musicales judeo-espa\u00f1olas francesas actuales. En particular, demuestra la existencia de interacciones entre la escena judeo-espa\u00f1ola -encarnada a veces por artistas que no pertenecen a esta tradici\u00f3n-, las instituciones p\u00fablicas o comunitarias judeo-espa\u00f1olas que recurren a estos artistas y las familias en las que este patrimonio se perpet\u00faa adapt\u00e1ndose a su nuevo contexto de utilizaci\u00f3n (la escena) y a su nueva funci\u00f3n (afirmaci\u00f3n de la identidad).<\/p>\n<p>Este estudio saca a la luz el fen\u00f3meno de la patrimonializaci\u00f3n del repertorio judeo-espa\u00f1ol actual. Esta patrimonializaci\u00f3n de las pr\u00e1cticas musicales, destinada a establecer una filiaci\u00f3n directa entre la Espa\u00f1a medieval anterior a la expulsi\u00f3n y los jud\u00edos sefard\u00edes de hoy, permite a los judeo-espa\u00f1oles distinguirse de otros componentes de la comunidad jud\u00eda francesa, en particular asquenaz\u00edes o norteafricanos, pero tambi\u00e9n de los no jud\u00edos. Por un efecto bumer\u00e1n, esta herencia recompuesta se reinyecta en las familias judeo-espa\u00f1olas que, aunque no se enga\u00f1en en cuanto a la autenticidad de esta m\u00fasica, se la reapropian hasta el punto de considerarla una referencia cultural importante.
