En 1841, a la edad de 14 a\u00f1os, entr\u00f3 al Conservatorio para estudiar el piano, la armon\u00eda (clase de F\u00e9lix Le Couppey) y la composici\u00f3n (clase de Michel Carafa). En 1847, obtuvo el primer precio de armon\u00eda del Conservatorio y en 1849, el segundo Segundo Gran Precio de Roma, con su cantata <em>Antonio<\/em>\u00a0[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/fr\/contenuen-ligne\/biographies\/jonas-emile-1827-1905.html#nb1\">1<\/a>]. Paralelamente a un puesto de director musical de Guardia Imperial (para la cual compuso numerosas marchas y piezas para fanfarrias militares), tuvo una carrera de profesor al Conservatorio de Par\u00eds de 1847 hasta1870. Asegur\u00f3 primero clases de solfeo pues de composici\u00f3n, a partir de 1859.<\/p>\n<p>En 1851, por consejo de Fromental Hal\u00e9vy, Emile Jonas ofreci\u00f3 sus servicios al Consistorio de Par\u00eds, como organista de la sinagoga principal, rue Notre-Dame de Nazareth, que conten\u00eda al origen una sala de oraci\u00f3n asquenaz\u00ed y una otra sefard\u00ed. A partir de 1854, Jonas ejerci\u00f3 como organista y director de coro, de la sinagoga de rito portug\u00e9s, al 23 rue Lamartine. Public\u00f3 en 1854 un <em>Recueil des chants h\u00e9bra\u00efques anciens et modernes ex\u00e9cut\u00e9s au Temple du rit [sic] portugais de Par\u00eds<\/em>\u00a0(Una selecci\u00f3n de los cantos hebreos antiguos y modernos ejecutado del rit [sic] portugu\u00e9s de Par\u00eds) compuesto de 39 piezas lit\u00fargicas para solistas, coros, \u00f3rgano y arpa, cuyo 24 de su composici\u00f3n. Una versi\u00f3n aumentada fue publicada en 1886 bajo el titulo de <em>Chants h\u00e9bra\u00efques ex\u00e9cut\u00e9s dans les temples consistoriaux et au Temple du rite portugais de Paris<\/em> (<em>Cantos hebreos ejecutados en los templos consistoriales y al Templo del rito Portugu\u00e9s de Par\u00eds<\/em>) acompa\u00f1ada por recomendaciones de interpretaciones as\u00ed que ejercicios.<\/p>\n<p>Su Salmo 130, para bar\u00edtono y coro, as\u00ed que la oraci\u00f3n <em>Vayehi binsoa <\/em>que acompa\u00f1a la Salida de la Ley, est\u00e1n interpretadas durante la inauguraci\u00f3n del Templo de la rue de la Victoire, el 9 de septiembre de 1874. El mismo a\u00f1o, Emile Jonas public\u00f3 un volumen de 21 composiciones de diversos autores, utilizadas durante ceremonias de bodas de esta sinagoga. En 1879, public\u00f3 un otro volumen de m\u00fasica para el Sabat.<\/p>\n<p>Paralelamente a su carrera lit\u00fargica, Emile Jonas es un compositor prolijo, autor de una veintiuna de op\u00e9ra bouffe, cuyo algunos conocieron un \u00e9xito esplendoroso. Comparti\u00f3 el cartel de los teatros parisinos (pues de Francia y de Europa) con los compositores franceses m\u00e1s famosos de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, como Delibes, Messager, Offenbach\u2026 Este ultimo, amigo y mentor de Jonas, le present\u00f3 a los mejores libretistas de la \u00e9poca, y produjo s\u00e9is de sus obras, los op\u00e9ras bouffes en un acto <em>La Parade<\/em>\u00a0(1856),\u00a0<em>Le Roi boit<\/em>\u00a0(1857),\u00a0<em>Les Petits Prodiges<\/em>\u00a0(1857), para lo cual Offenbach contribuio para al menos dos numerosos Job et son chien\u00a0(1863),\u00a0Le manoir des Lar\u00e9nardi\u00e8re\u00a0(1864),\u00a0Avant la noce\u00a0(1865), y\u00a0D\u00e9sir\u00e9, sire de Champigny\u00a0(1869).<\/p>\n<p>En 1867, Emile Jonas form\u00f3 parte del comit\u00e9 encargado de organizar los desfiles militares de la Exposici\u00f3n Universal inaugurada por Napole\u00f3n III y la emperatriz Eugenia. Es un\u00e1nimemente elogiado no s\u00f3lo por sus contribuciones art\u00edsticas, sino tambi\u00e9n por su dedicaci\u00f3n y su capacidad de organizaci\u00f3n. Entonces, fue miembro de muchos consejos de administraci\u00f3n de sociedades de autores y compositores. Frecuent\u00f3 personalidades como Bizet, Gounod, Labiche, Sardou y Alexandre Dumas (hijo). Fue nombrado Caballero y luego Oficial de la Legi\u00f3n de Honor.<\/p>\n<p>Emile Jonas muri\u00f3 en Saint-Germain-en-Laye, el 21 de mayo de 1905. Su cuerpo queda en el cementerio de Montparnasse.
