Es el tercero de cuartos hijos de Emma Ackermann y de Albert Weill, cantor en la sinagoga de Dessau, (de 1899 a 1919) y compositor, esencialmente de m\u00fasica lit\u00fargica.<\/p>\n<p>Sus primeros ensayos de composici\u00f3n datan de 1913. De 1915 a 1918, sigue las clases de piano, de armon\u00eda, de composici\u00f3n y de orquestaci\u00f3n de Albert Bing, jefe adjunto al teatro de la corte de Dessau. En 1918, inici\u00f3 estudios de m\u00fasica en la Escuela Superior (Hochschule) de Berl\u00edn. En diciembre de 1920, Kurt Weill es admitido en la clase del compositor y pianista Busoni, en la Academia de los Artes de Berl\u00edn. Se volv\u00ed r\u00e1pidamente uno de los m\u00e1s brillantes y radicales de los alumnos.<\/p>\n<p>Es apoy\u00e1ndose sobre la revalorizaci\u00f3n del papel de la m\u00fasica al teatro, sobre la noci\u00f3n de Spiel (juego) que Kurt Weill plantea sus proyectos de los operas en 1925. Su primera colaboraci\u00f3n con (<em>L\u2019Op\u00e9ra de quat\u2019sous<\/em> [La \u00f3pera de los tres centavos]) es determinante para su futura obra. Contratado en un ideal comunista, este encuentro cambia su manera de escribir. Se proclama querer estar el \u00abVerdi de los pobres\u00bb y orienta su estilo expresionista de vanguardista hacia el realismo. Crea una nueva forma de espect\u00e1culo popular: a mitad de camino entre el teatro y el opera, su m\u00fasica extrae al jazz y al cabar\u00e9.<br \/>Esta \u00e9poca es una transici\u00f3n para el compositor: colabora con la soprano austriaca Lotte Lenya, que se vuelve r\u00e1pidamente su musa y interprete privilegiada. Ahora inseparables, el duo se cas\u00f3 y forma una leyenda.<\/p>\n<p>En 1933, las origines jud\u00edas de Kurt Weill le obligan huir en Francia. El 26 de noviembre de 1933, durante un concierto en Salle Pleyel (Sala Pleyel), donde extractos del <em>Der Silbersee<\/em> est\u00e1n tocados, el compositor Florent Schmitt, grit\u00f3 \u00abViva Hitler!\u00a0\u00ab, apoyado por una parte de la sala. Peri\u00f3dicos parisinos arremeten contre Kurt Weill, especialmente Lucien Rebatet quien denuncia en el peri\u00f3dico \u00abAction fran\u00e7aise\u00bb (\u00abAcci\u00f3n francesa\u00bb) el \u00abvirus judeo alem\u00e1n).<\/p>\n<p>En septiembre de 1935, se fue en los Estados Unidos. Una obra mayor\u00eda de los primeros tiempos del exilio es <em>er Weg des Verheissung<\/em>\/<em>The Eternal Road<\/em>, una pieza b\u00edblica, que presenta la historia del pueblo jud\u00edo. Se trata de una mezcla de teatro, de liturgia y de \u00f3pera. Kurt Weill conoc\u00ed despu\u00e9s el \u00e9xito en Broadway, sobre todo con <em>Lady in the Dark<\/em>\u00a0y\u00a0<em>One Touch of Venus<\/em>. A partir de octubre de 1941, ha participado al esfuerzo de guerra, entrando en la organizaci\u00f3n <em>Fight For Freedom<\/em>; cumple un servicio civil de observador a\u00e9reo en 1942. Realiza tambi\u00e9n diversas obras vinculadas a la situaci\u00f3n, en particular <em>We Will Never Die<\/em>, representada en Nueva York y Los \u00c1ngeles, y radiada.
