De ni\u00f1o, cant\u00f3 con los coros de su sinagoga, y empez\u00f3 a estudiar viol\u00edn a partir de los 6 a\u00f1os. Ser\u00e1 la ocasi\u00f3n para aprender a tocar otros instrumentos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"TableContents\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"ES\">M\u00fasico profesional, toc\u00f3 en la orquesta de la \u00d3pera de Odesa y particip\u00f3 en giras por Rusia y Siberia. Luego, se convirti\u00f3 en el director de coro de una compa\u00f1\u00eda rusa. Cuando \u00e9ste emigr\u00f3 a Estados Unidos, Olshanetsky lo reemplaz\u00f3 en Harbin. Empez\u00f3 a escribir canciones en yidis y la m\u00fasica de la obra de teatro de Yitzhak Kaplan, Tsuik aheym kayn tsien (El regreso a Si\u00f3n).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"TableContents\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"ES\">Tras haber recorrido Siberia, Jap\u00f3n, China e India con una nueva compa\u00f1\u00eda rusa, regres\u00f3 a Harbin en 1921, donde se dio cuenta de que todos los teatros yiddish hab\u00edan desaparecido.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"TableContents\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"ES\">En 1922, emigr\u00f3 a Estados Unidos, donde su t\u00edo Hyman Meisel ya se hab\u00eda instalado. Meisel se convirti\u00f3 m\u00e1s tarde en su suegro, cuando se cas\u00f3 con su prima, la actriz y cantante Yiddish Bella Meisel (Mysell), que se casar\u00e1 con Herman Yablokoff posteriormente. Fue entonces cuando se involucr\u00f3 en el Arte del Teatro Yiddish. Un poco m\u00e1s tarde, se fue a Cuba para dirigir una compa\u00f1\u00eda teatral. De vuelta en Nueva York, trabaj\u00f3 sucesivamente en dos dos teatros Yiddish (el \u201cLenox\u201d en Harlem y el \u201cLiberty\u201d en Brooklyn) antes de ser promovido en el Teatro Nacional, el prestigioso teatro del casco urbano. Luego, en 1929, despu\u00e9s de haber escrito distintas operetas de su cosecha, todas exitosas, escribi\u00f3 de nuevo una parte de la m\u00fasica de \u00f3pera cl\u00e1sica de Goldfaden, Bar khokhba, durante su debut en la radio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"TableContents\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"ES\">A partir de 1925, y hasta su muerte, el nombre de Olshanetsky se volvi\u00f3 omnipresente en la Segunda Avenida, y sus operetas se tocaron en casi todos los grandes teatros. As\u00ed se convirti\u00f3 en el primer director musical del Hotel Concord. Algunos de los cantores m\u00e1s conocidos de aquella \u00e9poca le consideraban como, con diferencia, el mejor director de coro debido a comprensi\u00f3n de la sensibilidad del lenguaje cantoral y de su libertad r\u00edtmica. Escribi\u00f3 tambi\u00e9n algunas obras lit\u00fargicas, cuya mayor\u00eda nunca fue publicada.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"TableContents\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"ES\">Olshanetsky ten\u00eda un talento particular para escribir versos mel\u00f3dicos elegantes con un sentido dram\u00e1tico muy desarrollado. Era capaz de mezclar estos elementos y crear una m\u00fasica destinada al p\u00fablico en general. Joseph Rumshinsky, su colega mayor, pero tambi\u00e9n su rival, escribi\u00f3 en sus Memorias que Olshanetsky entend\u00eda intuitivamente los deseos musicales de los inmigrantes jud\u00edos, y que aport\u00f3 al Teatro Yiddish a la vez \u201cromances de ensue\u00f1o\u201d, y un lenguaje de tipo \u201cGitano Ruso\u201d.
