Ogni capitolo \u00e8 breve (in media 3-4 pagine) e concreto. Per i non addetti ai lavori, il primo prologo ricorda la storia degli Ebrei e la loro lingua. Il secondo prologo \u00e8 dedicato al rapporto musicale tra cristianesimo ed ebraismo. \u00c8 alla fine di questo prologo ed all&#8217;inizio dell&#8217;introduzione che l&#8217;autore definisce l&#8217;argomento principale del suo libro, che \u00e8 quello di ripercorrere \u201cil corso di questo affascinante dialogo musicale (&#8230;) tra due tradizioni musicali, una ebraica, l&#8217;altra cristiana\u201d (p.14). Il libro vuole essere \u201cun&#8217;introduzione alla musica ebraica (&#8230;) in stretta relazione con la musica europea\u201d (p. 17).<\/p>\n<p>Avendo limitato la portata geografica del suo approccio alla sola musica occidentale, Hector Sabo propone un percorso tematico e cronologico in 16 capitoli, dalla musica del Tempio di Gerusalemme alla musica contemporanea in Francia. Il 17\u00b0 capitolo offre una selezione di salmi ebraici musicati a partire dal Medioevo. Infine, la conclusione &#8211; oltre all&#8217;inevitabile riassunto &#8211; allarga il campo delle possibilit\u00e0 alla musica da film nonch\u00e8 ai musical a tema ebraico.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-21016 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/arton3641-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"logo bio Hector Sabo\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/>In breve, ad eccezione di un capitolo di 2 pagine sulla musica israeliana in lingua ebraica, questo libro presenta la musica ebraica occidentale nel suo rapporto con la societ\u00e0 cristiana circostante. Questo viaggio nel tempo e nello spazio alterna fatti storici e musicologici a riflessioni spesso interessanti dell&#8217;autore sulla propria pratica della musica ebraica. Si notano tuttavia alcune approssimazioni e persino errori, come il riferimento a p. 29 a \u201cmanoscritti di musica delle comunit\u00e0 ebraiche della Normandia\u201d, che sarebbero stati utilizzati per la registrazione del CD <em>Juifs et trouv\u00e8res<\/em> prodotto dall&#8217;IEMJ<span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_117665_1('footnote_plugin_reference_117665_1_2');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_117665_1('footnote_plugin_reference_117665_1_2');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_117665_1_2\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[2]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_117665_1_2\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">La musica del CD Juifs et trouv\u00e8res deriva da manoscritti ebraici del nord della Francia (Fiandre, Piccardia, Artois, Champagne, ecc.) che non contengono alcuna notazione musicale. Va inoltre notato che l&#8217;autore cita raramente le sue fonti. Cos\u00ec, quando Hector Sabo afferma a p. 38 che Beethoven ricevette da Salomon Sulzer un libro di melodie ebraiche che gli ispir\u00f2 il tema del Kol nidr\u00e9 nel suo 14\u00b0 quartetto, questa versione \u00e8 tutt&#8217;altro che unanime tra i musicologi. Allo stesso modo, l&#8217;autore afferma, a proposito del musical <em>West Side Story<\/em>, che Leonard \u201cBernstein voleva raccontare in musica la sua personale versione di una storia ispirata a <em>Romeo e Giulietta<\/em> di Shakespeare, dove i personaggi non sono irlandesi e portoricani, come voleva la versione finale, ma ebrei ed arabi&#8230;\u201d. (p. 80). Se ci riferiamo ai\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiofrance.fr\/francemusique\/podcasts\/serie-la-story-de-west-side-story\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">programmi di Laurent Vali\u00e8re trasmessi su France Musique nel 2021<\/a> ed all&#8217;articolo di Charlotte Landru-Chand\u00e8s, \u00ab <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiofrance.fr\/francemusique\/west-side-story-tout-ce-que-vous-avez-toujours-voulu-savoir-sur-l-oeuvre-de-bernstein-9763749\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">West Side Story: tutto quello che avreste sempre voluto sapere sull&#8217;opera di Bernstein<\/a>\u00bb, questa affermazione sarebbe quantomeno dubbia.<\/p>\n<p>A parte queste poche riserve, questo libro \u00e8 un piacere da leggere e fa venire voglia di saperne di pi\u00f9 sulla musica ebraica.
