Era uno dei pi\u00f9 grandi musicisti del folklore ebraico marocchino in Israele.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Come molti artisti ebrei marocchini, Moshe Attias proviene da una famiglia di cantanti e compositori risalenti a suo nonno. Suo padre Yaakov Attias, percussionista, suonava nel complesso di M\u00e2alem (Maestro) <strong>Ben Haroush<\/strong>, insieme a <strong>Mordecai Elmaghribi<\/strong>, il padre di Slimane Elmaghribi. Ben Haroush si stabil\u00ec in Israele e Mwijo lo accompagn\u00f2 nei suoi ultimi giorni. Per ringraziarlo della sua presenza, Ben Haroush gli regal\u00f2 i suoi libretti di canti che lui stesso aveva ricevuto precedentemente.<\/p>\n<p>Questi canzonieri sarebbero stati la fonte del suo ricco e vasto repertorio. Come molti musicisti ebrei marocchini prima di lui, Mwijo \u00e8 rimasto discreto sul suo modo di lavorare, e non ha condiviso i suoi libretti con nessun ricercatore od altre persone. Tuttavia, su richiesta del professor Yossef Chetrit dell&#8217;Universit\u00e0 di Haifa, Mwijo ha registrato un certo numero di canzoni tratte dai suoi manoscritti. E queste canzoni furono trascritte da Chetrit per il suo lavoro sulla poesia giudeo-araba del Marocco. A seguito di un&#8217;intervista del 2011 con Mwijo, Christopher Silver disse che Mwijo era l&#8217;unico musicista a padroneggiare queste canzoni dopo Ben Haroush. Mwijo sosteneva di conoscere 1.000 canzoni M\u00e2alem, il che gli valse il titolo onorifico di &#8220;Cheikh&#8221; (Maestro).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright  wp-image-28762\" src=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/d33-30_725_couv_300px.jpg\" alt=\"d33-30_725_couv_300px.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"208\" align=\"right\" \/>Nel 1962, all&#8217;et\u00e0 di 35 anni, Mwijo si trasfer\u00ec in Israele. Seduto un giorno in un caff\u00e8 di Haifa, cominci\u00f2 a cantare alcune canzoni, provocando l&#8217;emozione e le lacrime dei proprietari del caff\u00e8. Questo evento, combinato con il periodo di disoccupazione che stava attraversando, la sua perfetta conoscenza del repertorio familiare di canzoni e la sua voce unica lo spinsero ad iniziare una carriera musicale a tempo pieno.<\/p>\n<p>Inizio\u2019 cantando e suonando il mandolino, uno strumento associato principalmente alla musica algerina. Ma pass\u00f2 rapidamente alla kemanja, un violino nordafricano suonato in verticale.<\/p>\n<p>Tra il 1962 e il 1970, Mwijo ha scritto e venduto circa 40 canzoni al suo compagno di Meknes, <strong>Sliman Elmaghribi<\/strong>. Nel 1969, Mwijo inizi\u00f2 a registrare le proprie canzoni con la casa discografica Koliphone \/ Zakiphon.<br \/>Nel corso della sua carriera, Mwijo \u00e8 stato un artista discreto sulla scena musicale israeliana. A differenza della maggior parte degli artisti ebrei marocchini contemporanei, \u00e8 rimasto molto legato alla sua comunit\u00e0 di origine, suonando quasi esclusivamente per eventi familiari e comunitari. Anche se ha registrato pi\u00f9 di 100 album, i suoi concerti erano la sua principale fonte di reddito. Inoltre, a differenza dei suoi contemporanei <strong>Jo Amar<\/strong> e <strong>Samy Elmaghribi<\/strong>, che hanno ottenuto un riconoscimento internazionale, Mwijo ha trascorso la maggior parte della sua carriera sulla scena marocchino-israeliana.<\/p>\n<p>Mwijo \u00e8 un artista che presenta molteplici sfaccettature. Il suo repertorio \u00e8 vario in termini di generi testuali e stili musicali. Ma rimane fedele all&#8217;arabo maghrebino, con un accento di Meknes. Questo fatto dimostra la sua resistenza all&#8217;ideologia sionista di rivitalizzare la lingua ebraica e la conseguente cultura israeliana. Anche quando Mwijo canta in ebraico, la sua lingua \u00e8 disseminata di parole e di formule grammaticali arabe. Questo stile lo limitava ad un pubblico ristretto. Tuttavia, oggi, molti israeliani di origine marocchina considerano Mwijo come un artista emblematico della musica marocchina soprattutto per il suo uso della lingua araba vernacolare.<br \/>Il suo repertorio mostra anche l&#8217;ambivalenza dell&#8217;identit\u00e0 ebraica marocchina. Il fervore religioso si fonde con le pratiche secolari moderne, e la musica ed i testi tradizionali si mescolano con i vari stili urbani contemporanei.<\/p>\n<p>La venerazione delle figure sacre \u00e8 un&#8217;usanza importante della devozione religiosa marocchina; le <em>hilulot<\/em> (celebrazioni annuali della morte dei capi rabbini) erano tra le principali rappresentazioni di Mwijo in Israele ed altrove.\u00a0<br \/>Sheikh Mwijo ha registrato pochissimi piyoutim e bakashot nello stile andaluso marocchino. In compenso, compose e cant\u00f2 molti piyoutim in ebraico ed in arabo in onore degli tsadiqim (saggi) marocchini. Tra i grandi rabbini a cui rese omaggio notiamo in particolare i membri della dinastia Abuhatzira, a cominciare dal fondatore R. Yaacov Abuhatzira.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft  wp-image-28764\" src=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/d33-30_728_couv_300px.jpg\" alt=\"d33-30_728_couv_300px.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"208\" align=\"left\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Negli anni &#8217;70, si esibi\u2019 spesso all&#8217;estero, e frequentemente in Francia. Durante uno dei suoi soggiorni in Francia, un marocchino gli chiese di fare un concerto in Germania. Anche dopo aver ricevuto un&#8217;offerta di 10.000 marchi tedeschi, una somma molto alta per l&#8217;epoca, Mwijo rifiut\u00f2 formalmente l&#8217;invito a causa della Shoah.\u00a0 Dopo di che, Mwijo ando\u2019 al casin\u00f2, gioco\u2019 alla <em>slot machine<\/em> e vinse l\u2019equivalente di 10.000 marchi tedeschi!<\/p>\n<p>Lo stile predominante delle canzoni arabe di Mwijo \u00e8 il <em>cha\u00e2bi<\/em> algerino. Preferiva lo stile delle canzoni algerine, &#8220;pi\u00f9 tenero e delicato\u201d secondo le sue stesse parole, allo stile marocchino, anche se le canzoni <em>melhoun<\/em> in stile marocchino erano parte integrante del suo repertorio. Ma con il progredire della sua carriera, ha diversificato il suo repertorio e ampliato il suo pubblico registrando anche canzoni in ebraico.\u00a0<br \/>A seguito dell&#8217;assassinio di Itzhaq Rabin, Mwijo ha registrato una commovente canzone in suo onore su di una musica turca.
