Questa usanza si basa sui <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Thirteen_Attributes_of_Mercy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tredici attributi di misericordia<\/a><u><\/u> che, secondo la tradizione, sarebbero stati trasmessi da Dio a Mos\u00e8. Questi tredici attributi sono i seguenti : \u201cSignore! Signore! Clemente e misericordioso, lento all&#8217;ira, pieno di benevolenza ed d\u2019equit\u00e0; conserva il suo favore alla millesima generazione; sopporta il delitto, la ribellione, la colpa, ma non li assolve: persegue le malefatte dei padri sui figli, sui nipoti, fino alla terza ed alla quarta generazione. &#8220;(Esodo 34, 6-7)<\/p>\n<p>Un gran numero di poesie religiose (<em>piyyutim<\/em>) sono state composte nel corso dei secoli per illustrare l&#8217;enunciazione di questi tredici attributi: sono queste poesie, incentrate sull&#8217;idea del perdono, che prendono il nome di <em>selihot<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In origine, le <em>selihot <\/em>venivano lette durante l\u2019ufficio di Yom Kippur e dei digiuni. In seguito questa usanza si diffuse nei 10 giorni (<em>yamim nora\u00efm<\/em>) tra Rosh Hashanah e Kippur. A partire dal tempo dei geonim (dal VI al IX secolo d.C.), furono recitate ogni luned\u00ec e gioved\u00ec dopo l&#8217;<em>Amidah<\/em> del servizio mattutino.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_29351\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29351\" style=\"width: 318px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-29351\" src=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/seli_hot_a_la_synagogue_des_hassidim_de_belz_redim_350_px_larg-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"seli_hot_a_la_synagogue_des_hassidim_de_belz_redim_350_px_larg.jpg\" width=\"318\" height=\"239\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/seli_hot_a_la_synagogue_des_hassidim_de_belz_redim_350_px_larg-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/seli_hot_a_la_synagogue_des_hassidim_de_belz_redim_350_px_larg.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 318px) 100vw, 318px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-29351\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Sinagoga degli hassidim di Belz &#8211; Jerusalem<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Le comunit\u00e0 ashkenazite e chassidim iniziano a recitare le <em>selihot<\/em> dal sabato sera prima (di almeno quattro giorni) della festa di Rosh Hashanah. Le comunit\u00e0 sefardite le leggono all&#8217;alba prima della preghiera del mattino per quaranta giorni, a partire dal 1\u00b0 Elul. In Israele, l&#8217;usanza \u00e8 di recitarle nel cuore della notte. Dopo la distruzione del Secondo Tempio di Gerusalemme, le <em>selihot<\/em> venivano lette in circostanze eccezionali, soprattutto nei periodi durante i quali la pioggia necessaria all&#8217;agricoltura era scarsa. Si recitano anche durante certi digiuni.<\/p>\n<p>I diversi riti hanno i propri testi e costumi. E lo stile delle <em>selihot <\/em>ha evoluto nel tempo. La comparsa di strofe e filastrocche \u00e8 quindi legata ai canoni estetici bizantini, siriani e arabi, dando luogo alla nascita di poemi con strofe a due linee (le <em>selihot <\/em>sono allora chiamate <em>shniyot<\/em>), tre linee (<em>shlishiyot)<\/em> e quattro linee (<em>shalmoniyot<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Alcune <em>selihot<\/em> &#8211; come <em>Adon haselihot, Atanou lehalot, Ben Adam, El erekh apayim<\/em>, <em>El melekh yoshev<\/em> &#8211; si sono diffuse in molte comunit\u00e0. Gli autori di queste poesie sono rimasti in gran parte anonimi, ma i nomi di alcuni sono giunti fino a noi, come il famoso Mo\u00efse Ibn Ezra (1055-dopo il 1135) che acquis\u00ec il soprannome di <em>ha-Sallah<\/em> (&#8220;l&#8217;Autore di <em>selihot&#8221;<\/em>). Infine, un certo numero di <em>selihot <\/em>sono composte sotto forma di acrostici (le prime lettere di ogni verso seguono l&#8217;ordine alfabetico come nella <em>selihah Ashamnou mikol &#8216;am<\/em>); e non \u00e8 raro che il nome dell&#8217;autore appaia in acrostico seguendo l&#8217;ordine alfabetico.<\/p>\n<p>Fonti:<br \/>&#8211; Dictionnaire encyclop\u00e9dique du juda\u00efsme, coll.
