E\u2019 figlio di Isaac Eberst (1779-1850), musicista e cantore della sinagoga. Originario di Offenbach-sur-le-Main, Isaac Eberst adotta il cognome di Offenbach intorno al 1810, in virt\u00f9 del decreto napoleonico del 28 luglio 1808 che impone a tutti gli ebrei dell&#8217;Impero di assumere un &#8220;nome definitivo&#8221;, per facilitarne il censimento e la tenuta dello stato civile.<\/p>\n<p>Jacob Offenbach (che, pi\u00f9 tardi si far\u00e0 chiamare Jacques) inizia a comporre all&#8217;et\u00e0 di nove anni. Violoncellista e musicista di talento, \u00e8 inviato all&#8217;et\u00e0 di 14 anni al Conservatorio di musica di Parigi, insieme a suo fratello Julius. Nello stesso tempo, dal 1 dicembre 1833, Jacques Offenbach \u00e8 incaricato della &#8220;formazione e direzione del coro&#8221; della sinagoga Notre-Dame de Nazareth a Parigi, posizione che occuper\u00e0 solo sei mesi a seguito di un disaccordo con le autorit\u00e0 rabbiniche della sinagoga che lo accusano di suonare in un&#8217;orchestra lo Shabbat.<\/p>\n<p>Dopo un anno al conservatorio, Offenbach, il cui comportamento \u00e8 considerato troppo dissipato, si trova costretto a lasciarlo. Successivamente, si unisce all&#8217;orchestra dell&#8217;Op\u00e9ra-comique ed \u00e8 notato da Jacques F. Hal\u00e9vy, compositore, che gli d\u00e0 delle lezioni. Nel frattempo, la sua reputazione\u00a0 cresce. Compone alcune musiche di scena per l&#8217;Op\u00e9ra-comique e dal 1839 tiene dei concerti al violoncello.<\/p>\n<p>Diventa noto grazie a delle melodie leggere, e diventa direttore musicale della <strong>Com\u00e9die fran\u00e7aise<\/strong> nel 1847. Emulo di Rossini e di Mozart, \u00e8 il creatore dell&#8217;<strong>op\u00e9ra-bouffe <\/strong>francese<span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_71162_1('footnote_plugin_reference_71162_1_1');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_71162_1('footnote_plugin_reference_71162_1_1');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_71162_1_1\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[1]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_71162_1_1\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">op\u00e9ra-bouffe : Come l&#8217;op\u00e9ra-comique e l&#8217;operetta, l&#8217;op\u00e9ra-bouffe presenta una successione di scene cantate e dialoghi parlati. Otto anni dopo, decide di aprire il suo teatro per produrvi le sue opere: la sala delle <strong>Bouffes-Parisiens<\/strong>, inaugurata nel 1855. E\u2019l\u00ec che \u00e8 creata con successo la prima opera-bouffe di Offenbach, <em>Orph\u00e9e aux Enfers<\/em>(1858). Le sue opere successive (<em>La Grande-Duchesse de<\/em> <em>G\u00e9rolstein<\/em>, <em>La Vie parisienne<\/em>, <em>Les Brigands<\/em>) sono ugualmente ben accolte. L\u2019epoca definita \u201cfesta imperiale\u201d di cui Offenbach diventa in quindici anni una delle figure emblematiche, \u00e8 brutalmente interrotta dalla guerra franco-prussiana del 1870. Sempre attento al gusto del pubblico, Offenbach si dedica allora all\u2019<strong>opera-bouffe-f\u00e9\u00e9rie<\/strong> (<em>Le Roi Carotte<\/em>) e poi all\u2019<strong>opera patriottica<\/strong> (<em>La Fille du Tambour-Major<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Offenbach muore pochi mesi prima della prima dell&#8217;opera che gli avrebbe portato il riconoscimento tanto desiderato, <strong><em>Les Contes d&#8217;Hoffmann<\/em><\/strong>, una delle opere francesi pi\u00f9 rappresentate attualmente.<\/p>\n<p>Jacques Offenbach \u00e8 l&#8217;autore di diversi canti sinagogali (<em>Ashamnou, Tavo lefanecha<\/em>\u2026) composti in occasione delle visite a suo padre a Colonia<span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_71162_1('footnote_plugin_reference_71162_1_2');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_71162_1('footnote_plugin_reference_71162_1_2');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_71162_1_2\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[2]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_71162_1_2\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">Queste due arie sono state pubblicate nel 1997 nel CD <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/it\/gesange-aus-der-synagogue-chants-of-the-synagogue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ges\u00e4nge aus der Synagoge \/ Chants of the synagogue<\/a>, Vol. 2 Koch Schwann Aulos.<\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_71162_1_2').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_71162_1_2', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top center', relative: true, offset: [-7, 0], });<\/script>.
