Suo padre, barbiere di professione, suona il violino alle feste e senza dubbio ha dato le prime lezioni di violino a Isaac e suo fratello Maurice. I due fratelli formano un quartetto d&#8217;archi a Strasburgo con Simon e Salomon L\u00e9vy e si rendono a Parigi dove Strauss entra al Conservatorio nella classe del grande violinista Pierre Baillot il 31 gennaio 1828. Ne esce un anno e mezzo dopo, interrompendo gli studi per guadagnarsi da vivere.<\/p>\n<p>Ha infatti ottenuto un posto come violinista al Teatro Italiano, dove Rossini continua a dominare il repertorio. Strauss rester\u00e0 vicino a Rossini, al quale dedicher\u00e0 uno dei suoi valzer, e parteciper\u00e0 ai suoi funerali. Nel 1981, Claude L\u00e9vi-Strauss, suo pronipote, scrive:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Mia nonna amava dire che, credo all&#8217;et\u00e0 di sette anni [ca 1849], baciata sulla fronte da Rossini, aveva giurato di non lavarsi mai il viso per mantenere intatta la traccia di quelle labbra divine&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter size-full wp-image-21905\" src=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/strauss_2_500px.jpg\" alt=\"strauss_2_500px.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"395\" align=\"middle\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/strauss_2_500px.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/strauss_2_500px-300x237.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tuttavia, questa attivit\u00e0 presso il Teatro Italiano non \u00e8 sufficiente per far vivere un musicista ed \u00e8 obbligato di suonare nelle case di ricchi benestanti ed ai balli pubblici. In estate lo si trova nelle citt\u00e0 termali, Plombi\u00e8res (nei Vosgi) e poi Aix-les-Bains (in Savoia).<\/p>\n<p>Allo stesso tempo, Strauss dirige delle orchestre da ballo; il suo nome appare nella stampa musicale nel gennaio 1842, quando dirige i balli in maschera all&#8217;Op\u00e9ra-Comique. E\u2019 alla fine dello stesso mese che Berlioz dedica la famosa rubrica del <em>Journal des d\u00e9bats<\/em> (ripreso nelle <em>M\u00e9moires<\/em>), il che dimostra che aveva gi\u00e0 acquisito una solida reputazione, e che l\u2019omonimia con gli Strauss di Vienna gli pone problema.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter size-full wp-image-21907\" src=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/strauss_3_500px.jpg\" alt=\"strauss_3_500px.jpg\" width=\"435\" height=\"329\" align=\"middle\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/strauss_3_500px.jpg 435w, https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/strauss_3_500px-300x227.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 435px) 100vw, 435px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Nell&#8217;estate del 1842, grazie alle numerose relazioni che stringe animando i balli di Aix-les-Bains, la sua fama supera i confini della Francia: si occupa in particolare della musica alle nozze del Duca di Savoia, il futuro Vittorio Emanuele II (1820-78), Re d&#8217;Italia. Per l&#8217;occasione recluta un&#8217;orchestra di 115 musicisti e si esibisce davanti alla corte a Genova.<\/p>\n<p>La sua reputazione \u00e8 ormai consolidata. Il ministro del commercio di Louis-Philippe, che stava cercando di sviluppare la citt\u00e0 termale di Vichy, gli propone nel 1843 di diventare direttore dei Saloni dello Stabilimento Termale di Vichy. Strauss ha il monopolio del tempo libero, in cambio del quale accetta di far eseguire degli ampliamenti. E\u2019 cos\u00ec all&#8217;origine dello sviluppo di Vichy (dal 1852 al 1869 il numero dei bagnanti passa da 5.000 a 25.000), dove si fa costruire una villa nel 1858, dove accoglie Napoleone III durante le sue cure nel 1861 e nel 1862, tuttora esistente con il nome di Villa Strauss.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter size-full wp-image-21909\" src=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/villa_strauss_500px.jpg\" alt=\"villa_strauss_500px.jpg\" width=\"425\" height=\"314\" align=\"middle\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/villa_strauss_500px.jpg 425w, https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/villa_strauss_500px-300x222.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 425px) 100vw, 425px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Una volta a Vichy, Strauss vede susseguirsi i suoi successi: nel 1847 crea le musiche per il doppio matrimonio alla corte di Madrid (Isabella II di Spagna sposa suo cugino e sua sorella Dona Luisa il duca di Montpensier, il figlio pi\u00f9 giovane del re dei Francesi) e compone il valzer <em>Il doppio matrimonio<\/em>, nonch\u00e9 un valzer per ciascuna delle spose (Luisa Wals, per la duchessa di Montpensier ed infante di Spagna, El Besamanos (il bacio-mano) alla regina Isabella II. Riceve come ringraziamento un anello con un rubino ornato di diamanti che Henriette Nizan dice di aver gettato per errore nel fuoco, messa alle strette dai tedeschi durante l&#8217;Occupazione<\/p>\n<p>Pochi mesi dopo questo doppio matrimonio, dove dimostra il suo valore davanti a Louis-Philippe e conosce Eug\u00e9nie de Montijo la futura imperatrice, succede a Jean-Baptiste Tolbecque alla direzione dei balli della corte di Louis-Philippe e del ballo del Giardino d&#8217;inverno sugli Champs-Elys\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>La sua reputazione \u00e8 ormai talmente affermata che, due mesi dopo, i rivoluzionari del 1848 lo invitano ad organizzare la musica per la festa repubblicana a Versailles;
