{"id":71306,"date":"2017-02-21T16:53:31","date_gmt":"2017-02-21T15:53:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/waldteufel-emile-1837-1915\/"},"modified":"2025-09-08T15:34:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-08T13:34:07","slug":"waldteufel-emile-1837-1915","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/it\/waldteufel-emile-1837-1915\/","title":{"rendered":"Waldteufel, Emile (1837-1915)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Nato in una famiglia ebrea a Strasburgo, Emile Waldteufel fu il compositore preferito dell&#8217;imperatrice Eugenia. <\/strong><strong>\u00c8 in particolare l&#8217;autore di centinaia di valzer, tra cui il famoso <em>Valzer dei pattinatori<\/em> fischiettato in tutta Europa&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Il <em>Valzer dei pattinatori<\/em> \u00e8 uno dei valzer pi\u00f9 famosi al mondo. Molti attribuiscono la sua melodia a Johan Strauss. A torto! La <em>Valse des patineurs<\/em> \u00e8 stata composta da Emile Waldteufel, musicista francese di famiglia ebrea, nato a Strasburgo nel 1837. Suo nonno, Moyse L\u00e9vy, era musicista itinerante a Bischheim (Alsazia). In virt\u00f9 del decreto napoleonico del 28 luglio 1808 che imponeva a tutti gli ebrei dell&#8217;Impero di assumere un &#8220;nome definitivo&#8221;, in modo da facilitarne il censimento e la tenuta dello stato civile, Moyse L\u00e9vy si scelse lo pseudonimo di Waldteufel.<\/p>\n<p>Uno dei suoi figli, Lazare L\u00e9vy alias Louis Waldteufel (1801-1884), violinista e direttore d&#8217;orchestra, ebbe quattro figli: Achille (1830-?), Isaac (1832-1884), dit L\u00e9on, direttore dei balli di corte e della presidenza, Salomon dit \u00c9douard (1834-?) e Charles \u00c9mile (1837-1915), dit \u00c9mile, che fu il compositore pi\u00f9 noto e pi\u00f9 prolifico della famiglia.<\/p>\n<p>Nel 1844, la sua famiglia si trasferisce a Parigi in modo che L\u00e9on possa imparare il violino al Conservatorio. A sua volta, dal 1853 al 1857, \u00c9mile vi si iscrive per studiare il pianoforte; Jules Massenet e Georges Bizet sono suoi compagni di classe. Waldteufel, come molti altri pianisti della sua epoca, compone le sue opere al pianoforte, ma con la prospettiva di orchestrazioni successive in funzione delle condizioni di esecuzione (sale private, sale da ballo o balli all&#8217;aperto).<\/p>\n<p>Durante il Secondo Impero, Waldteufel scrive molte danze che lo fanno conoscere. Nel 1865, particolarmente apprezzato da Eugenia, diventa direttore della musica da ballo per la corte imperiale di Napoleone III e nominato pianista dell&#8217;Imperatrice. \u00c8 responsabile di animare le famose serate danzanti di Biarritz e di Compi\u00e8gne. Dal 1867, l&#8217;orchestra di Waldteufel accompagna i balli alle Tuileries, subentrando cos\u00ec a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/it\/strauss-isaac-1806-1888\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Isaac Strauss<\/a>, poi quelli dell&#8217;Eliseo dopo la guerra franco-prussiana.<\/p>\n<p>Nel 1874 \u00e8 notato dal principe di Galles, il futuro Edoardo VII, che gli propone di farlo conoscere in Gran Bretagna. Ne segue un contratto con la casa editrice londinese Hopwood &amp; Crew che gli permette di suonare ai balli della regina Vittoria a Buckingham Palace. La sua musica domina i programmi per diversi anni. Il <em>Valzer dei pattinatori<\/em> (1882) gli crea una fama internazionale ed \u00e8 eseguito con successo a Londra, Berlino e Parigi fino all&#8217;inizio del XX secolo.<\/p>\n<p>La musica di Waldteufel \u00e8 caratterizzata da un senso melodico nella tradizione dei melodisti francesi del suo tempo come Gounod, Saint-Sa\u00ebns o Bizet. La sua ispirazione spazia dalle opere comiche di Audran, Lacome o <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iemj.org\/it\/offenbach-jacques-1819-1880\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Offenbach <\/a>alla musica popolare bavarese (che conosce attraverso sua madre) o al folklore boemo. Il suo lavoro abbondante consiste principalmente di musica da ballo: valzer, polke e mazurche cos\u00ec come delle melodie che hanno fatto la sua reputazione.<\/p>\n<p>Biografia in gran parte tratta
