Ci sono anche altri riferimenti biblici: nella prima strofa, l&#8217;espressione &#8220;la citt\u00e0 che siede solitaria&#8221; proviene dal Libro delle Lamentazioni 1:1, e la terza strofa dal Salmo 137:5 &#8220;<em>Se ti dimentico Gerusalemme<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Le circostanze che hanno portato alla composizione di questa canzone sono altamente simboliche. Nel 1967, il sindaco di Gerusalemme, Teddy Kolek, commission\u00f2 una canzone su Gerusalemme per il Festival della Canzone che si sarebbe tenuto la sera del Giorno dell&#8217;Indipendenza, il 15 maggio 1967. Il compito fu affidato a Naomi Shemer, una cantautrice. I luoghi sacri dell&#8217;ebraismo &#8211; il Monte del Tempio, il Muro Occidentale ed il cimitero ebraico sul Monte degli Ulivi &#8211; erano allora inaccessibili agli ebrei espulsi dalla Citt\u00e0 Vecchia dopo la Guerra d&#8217;Indipendenza. Questa canzone,eseguita da Shuli Nathan appena tre settimane prima dello scoppio della Guerra dei Sei Giorni, ebbe un grande successo, soprattutto tra i soldati israeliani che parteciparono alla riconquista di Gerusalemme Est. Secondo la Societ\u00e0 degli Autori, Compositori ed Editori di Musica israeliana (ACUM), esistono oltre 300 versioni diverse di questa canzone, tradotte in molte lingue, tra cui l&#8217;esperanto. Il brano \u00e8 stato introdotto anche nella liturgia di molte comunit\u00e0 ashkenazite e sefardite in Israele e nella diaspora. Spesso suonata nelle cerimonie ufficiali, <\/span><em style=\"font-size: revert; background-color: var(--bs-body-bg); color: var(--bs-body-color); font-family: var(--bs-body-font-family); font-weight: var(--bs-body-font-weight); text-align: var(--bs-body-text-align);\">Yerushalayim shel zahav<\/em><span style=\"font-size: revert; background-color: var(--bs-body-bg); color: var(--bs-body-color); font-family: var(--bs-body-font-family); font-weight: var(--bs-body-font-weight); text-align: var(--bs-body-text-align);\"> \u00e8 un fenomeno culturale all&#8217;incrocio tra politica, identit\u00e0 nazionale israeliana e cultura popolare.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Poco prima della sua morte, Naomi Shemer ha rivelato di essersi ispirata a un&#8217;antica ninna nanna basca, <em>Pello Joxepe<\/em>, composta da Juan Francisco Petriarena &#8216;Xenpelar&#8217; (1835-1869), che aveva ascoltato durante un concerto tenuto dal cantante spagnolo <a href=\"https:\/\/it.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paco_Ib%C3%A1%C3%B1ez\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paco Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez<\/a> in Israele nel 1962.
