In this program, Hélène Engel talks about the discs Hungry Hearts: Classic Yiddish Clarinet Solos of the 1920’s, (Schott Wergo, 1998) by Joel Rubin and The Art of Klezmer Clarinet, (2001) by Margot Leverett, both of them great American klezmer clarinet players.

Hélène Engel is a singer, musicologist, author, composer and arranger. She is interested in all aspects of Jewish music, from the collecting of historical sounds to today’s compositions. Based in Montreal, she hosts the radio show ” The hidden sides of Jewish Music” on Radio SHALOM Montreal.
