Description

In 2010, the composer Olivier Milhaud meets the translator Batia Baum who makes him discover the beauty of Sutzkever’s poems. She remains to this day the literary adviser of the project.

Then in 2015, Olivier Milhaud meets Mélanie Gardyn. Sutzkever Project will be born, joined in 2016 by pianist Natacha Medvedeva.

Sutzkever Project interprets liders (songs) that cross the life of the poet Abraham Sutzkever (1913-2010), from his childhood in Siberia, through the ghetto of Vilno (Vilnius) to Israel … a musical dive in this rich and dense poetic work where words seem to have engulfed the outside world to bring out horror, nature, love, creation itself … splendor and beauty!

This CD won in 2017 the 1st prize of the International Jewish Music Festival of Amsterdam and the Mira Rafalowicz Prize for the best Yiddish performance.
