Lufteater – Lomir Zingen Choir

The LufTeater now houses the Lomir Zingen choir and stages concerts and musical performances.

After a career as a singer in various languages, mainly Yiddish, Astrid Ruff wanted to share her experience and created the choir “Lomir Zingen” (Let’s sing!) in 2012.

The aim of this choir is to promote the richness and diversity of Yiddish culture through song.

The choir offers two types of performances:

1/ Concerts

The concerts are not static, with everyone sitting behind their sheet music, but dynamic, alternating between introductory texts (in French) and songs in Yiddish. The singers are accompanied by an accordionist. The concert features songs from different eras, different styles, and different moods. They allow the audience to keep the beat, sing along with us, and share our joy of singing.

2/ Shows

Since 2012, Astrid Ruff has put on numerous themed shows with the Lomir Zingen choir: the Bund, Hasidism, Jewish marriage, and Jewish emigration to America.
The songs, in Yiddish, are preceded and introduced by long, personalized theatrical texts. Each time, there are costumes, props, and a set.
The latest show is called “Yidn in Amerike” and deals with the difficult integration of Jews in America.

Both formats (concert and show) are currently touring and available.
