This book, based on the collections of Klezmer melodies by Moshe Beregovski done before World War II, allows a precise analysis of instrumental music of the East-European Jews in the beginning of the 20th century. This first edition in English includes sheet music and detailed notes by Michael Alpert, a pioneer of research on Klezmer music ; it contains melodies that weren’t available yet in a printed version, as well as an appreciation of Bergowski by the Russian specialist Izaly Zemtsovsky.
