European Festival of Jewish Choirs

Partner event of the European Institute of Jewish Music

After nine editions in other capitals, Paris hosts the European Festival of Jewish Choirs for the first time. Nine of the finest vocal ensembles have accepted the invitation of the European Union Association of Jewish Choirs (EUAJC) to bring a rich repertoire to a wide audience – Jewish and non-Jewish alike.

Six free concerts (reservations required) will allow you to appreciate an eclectic range of composers, periods, languages and styles: from Renaissance scores to contemporary works; from sacred music to Yiddish, Klezmer or Ladino songs…

These songs, served up with passion and emotion by nine choirs, will be conducted by top-level professional conductors. Itaï Daniel, Artistic Director of this French edition, is putting it under the sign of “SHALOM”, the Hebrew word for welcome and peace.

The grand gala concert will take place at the Salle Gaveau, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, from 2.30pm to 6pm, and will bring together the 9 choirs with over 230 choristers from Paris, Leipzig, London, Rome, Strasbourg, Vienna, as well as Philadelphia, Tel Aviv and Lviv.

They will unite their voices to sing for hope and peace…
