Aki estamos

Aki Estamos – Association of the Friends of the Sephardic Letter was born in 1998. From the beginning, the association has set itself the goal of bringing the Judeo-Spanish culture to the present in a tradition of openness and ensuring its transmission.

While the generation born in the old Ottoman Empire disappears inevitably, that speakers of Judeo-Spanish are increasingly rare, it is imperative to ensure the passage this culture to the younger generation. The excellent academic work accomplished in recent decades, and the proliferation of commemorative, cultural and artistic events are not enough. The Judeo-Spanish culture must also live on a daily basis, in a banal and family way, as our elders did.
