Azafea – A Spanish Odyssey

Duo Lev-Yulzari (with Frank London & John Hadfield)

COLLECTION DECOUVERTES, VOL. 2

AZAFEA, second volume of the collection “Découvertes” (Discoveries), invites us over the seas, on the paths of Sefaradic Jews who preserved the Spanish musical heritage, while they also adapted it to the musics of the countries where they settled (Turkey, South America, Israel…).

French double-bass player Rémy Yulzari and Israeli guitarist Nadav Lev are two soloists with amazing career trajectories that have won them worldwide praise. From New York to Jerusalem, from Tokyo to Paris, this duo’s travels has taken them to the most prestigious concert halls, as they created a repertoire drawn from both art music and popular memory that results in original and tasteful programs, in which different musical genres join in a thoughtful dialogue.

They are joined on this recording by trumpeter Frank London and percussionist John Hadfield.
