Cinema, music and judaism

A radio program of the European Institute of Jewish Music, hosted by Hervé Roten

MUSIQUES JUIVES D’HIER ET D’AUJOURD’HUI – February 13, 2018, JUDAÏQUES FM (94.8), 21H05. Radio program in French

Hervé Roten receives the violinist Isabelle Durin on the occasion of the release of Mémoire et Cinéma, a disc of the most beautiful Jewish-themed movie music, published by Paraty-Harmonia Mundi/PIAS.

This radio show will be an opportunity to review the history of “Jewish cinema”, whose music is often inseparable from the films they accompany, and are sometimes even the main object (Yidl mitn Fidl, Fiddler on the roof).

We will also hear large excerpts from the main themes of films, such as Schindler’s List, Life is Beautiful, Yentl, Exodus, Yiddishe Mame

A musical program that makes us want to return to the cinemas and plunges us back into the treasures of the 7th art!
