This video, made with archives from the EIJM, describes the life of the Spanish-Jewish composer Alberto Hemsi (1896-1975).[1]There is some uncertainty about Alberto Hemsi’s date of birth (1896, 1897 or 1898 ?). According to one of his daughters, Ketty Menasce, the date on his last passport is December 23, 1896.

This short film was presented by Hervé Roten as an introduction to the concert Coplas Sefardies – Judeo-Spanish Songs by Alberto Hemsi, given in the synagogue of the liberal Jewish community of Hannover on March 22, 2018.
