Emile Zrihan (or “Zrihen” according to the transliteration), a famous cantor of Moroccan origin living in Israel, is often associated with the Andalusian Orchestra of Israel in which he sang for years as a soloist.
His powerful counter-tenor voice allows him to perform a varied repertoire of sacred and secular songs, in Arabic and Hebrew, from mawwâl (popular Arabic poetry with an essentially amorous theme) to piyutim (religious poetry) and bakashot (praise to God).
