Andalusian Music: the Portuguese rite

A radio show broadcasted on Radio Tel Aviv, hosted by Sabine Amsellem

MUSIQUES ANDALOUSES, October 2015, Radio TAF (102 FM)

In the first half of the 16th century, several families of Portuguese Marranos who fled the persecutions from the Inquisition, settled in Bordeaux, and then in the region of Bayonne (France).

During nearly 200 years, these Jewish communities developed an intense musical activity.
The Portuguese rite is the first radio show, talking of the Andalusian music Diasporas, hosted by Sabine Amsellem on Radio TAF.

Sabine Amsellem taught piano as well as music theory and culture at the Paris Conservatory. She then settled in Israel where she became producer of the radio programs “Andalusian Music” and “Music Forever” on Radio TAF in Tel Aviv.
