The JOSEPH SITBON COLLECTION

Eastern music

In November 2019, Madam Maryse Sitbon gave to the European Institute of Jewish Music the disc collection of Jewish music that belonged to her father, Joseph Sitbon.

This collection comprises twenty 45 RPM discs of Eastern music. We find in that holding several famous names like Salim Halali, Raoul Journo and El Kahlaoui Tounsi, but also lesser known artists, such as Mohamed Jerrari or Oulaya.

These discs were published between 1960 and the end of the 1970’s by the music labels Dounia, Ennagham, Ducretet Thomson, Pathé…

These archives are now available on the catalog of our collections or by making an appointment with the European Institute of Jewish Music (contact@iemj.org).
