Balagan Box : John Zorn’s music label Tzadik

A radio broadcast from Radio Shalom hosted by Laurence Haziza

Balagan Box – April 1, 2006, Radio Shalom (94,8)

Laurence Haziza and Bruno Nahon invite Sigalit Lavon and Yann Chetrit, two people in love with music and in particular with the music label Tzadik. Created by John Zorn in 1995 in New-York, the music label Tzadik is dedicated to avant-garde and experimental music. Among the many collections of this music label, we find the Radical Jewish Culture, which blends Jewish music with contemporary influences.

We will hear, among other music, a cover of Serge Gainsbourg‘s Je t’aime, moi non plus, from the album Great Jewish Music: Serge Gainsbourg, Dance of the Idiots, a song from the eponymous album by Koby Israelite, and Beeroth, from the album Hei by the band Masada.

Laurence Haziza is a journalist, press agent and artistic director of the festival Jazz’n’klezmer. Every saturday evenings from 2006 to 2013, she hosted on radio Shalom the show Balagan Box, called later Balagan Music.
