Les Bubbey Mayse

Vendredi soir après le dessert

Grandmas stories…

This new CD of klezmer music and Yiddish songs is a feast for our ears! With their various influences (traditional music from French Bretagne, Ireland, Tibet, jazz, pop, classical, and of course Klezmer and Yiddish), four young singers and musicians take us to a renewed “Yiddishland”, where a fortune teller would tell us her “bubbey mayse” (“grandmother’s stories” in Yiddish).

The clarinet, diatonic accordion, violin and cello mingle with the voices in solo, duet or all together to give a new interpretation of some classical songs of the Jewish folklore of Eastern and Central Europe.

From an intimate song to a choir with communicative energy, from a refined melody to an orchestrated writing, this music filled with emotion explores this traditional repertoire with finesse, modernity and elegance.

Elsa Signorile, Clarinet – Vocals
Morgane Labbe, Accordion – Vocals
Margaux Liénard, Violin – Vocals
Juliette Divry, Cello- Vocals
