Ledor Vador – December 3, 2017, Radio Judaïca Strasbourg (102.9 FM)
Broadcast 12

In this 12th broadcast Hector Sabo, along with his son Léo, recalls the Hebrew compositions of Jacques Fromental Halévy and of his contemporary, Giacomo Meyerbeer.

We will hear an excerpt of the Marche funèbre et de profundis en hébreu composed by Jacques Fromental Halévy and Uvenucho Yomar composed by Giacomo Meyerbeer.

The Marche funèbre et de profundis en hébreu, is performed by the Polyphonies Hébraïques de Strasbourg. It’s a requiem, covering the psalm 130, and written in 1820 by Jacques Fromental Halévy to pay tribute to the Duke Du Berry who was assassinated.

The choral work Uvenucho Yomar by Giacomo Meyerbeer covers the prayer said in the synagogyue during the restitution of the Torah scrolls in the holy ark.
