RENANIM – European Organisation of Hebrew Choirs

Founded by Avner Soudry, musical director.

“Two principles make Renanim a committed movement: openness and musical quality

OPENING
By its openness, the movement is actively campaigning for inter and intra-cultural tolerance. We want, through Hebrew choral singing, to make Jewish culture known among the legitimate multiplicity of the cultures of humanity. We take care to position ourselves above the diversity of cultural practices and political positions. Our commitment is active because we want to produce and present the results of our work to all audiences and cultures.

MUSICAL QUALITY
For our message to be recognized and respected, we must do everything we can to ensure that our means – our concert performances – are convincing and respectful. We do not seek to solicit the complacency of the public by offering him Hebrew folk songs, we work instead for a recognized musical quality. While remaining amateurs, we cultivate the quality of the prestigious European choral singing. It is only at equal quality that a respectful intercultural dialogue can be created. ”
