Choir Le Chant Sacré

LE CHANT SACRE is a male voice choir composed of about twenty passionate singers whose main repertoire is Ashkenazi Jewish liturgy, the central Europe and german jewish tradition.

Since September 2015, the choir has been under the direction of Rémy STUDER, a composer, multi-instrumentalist, singer and conductor trained at the Strasbourg Conservatory.
It is one of the last synagogue choir in France performing every Shabbat services (Friday evening and Saturday morning) and all festivals with a permanent professional Hazzan (Cantor), Mr. Isaac OUAKNINE, at the Great Synagogue in Strasbourg, LA SYNAGOGUE DE LA PAIX (The Peace Synagogue).
Thus, we perpetuate the jewish liturgy of Ashkenazi rite, especially of Alsace (eastern France, near the german border) and participate to preserve the specific cantorial music of the Rhine Valley.
We also perform at the synagogue on special events : official and patriotic commemorations as well as wedding ceremonies, accompanied by professional musicians.
