This week, Edmond Ghrenassia presents a program dedicated to nigunim. Nigunim are songs without lyrics generally sung by the hassidim on simple melodies which repeat until reaching a certain form of transe.
During the 27 minutes of this program, a cappella sung nigunim follow instrumental pieces. We will hear for example Rejoicing Nigun of Lubavitch Hassidim, sung by Lubavitch hassidim, Hassidic Nigunim, by Dave Tarras and Abe Schwartz, R’ Michel Zitshover’s Nigun by Moussa Berlin

Formed to be engeneer, and teacher in University, Edmond Ghrenassia hosts since 2005 the show Klezmer Attitude on Radio Judaïca Lyon, program created to favor the diffusion of Jewish music. In 2009, he creates the International Festival of Jewish Music of Lyon which takes place in the Espace Hillel, where he programmed over 50 concerts. Amateur musician, he plays in several klezmer bands since 2003 and recorded several CD’s.
