An information hub for Spanish & Portuguese / Western Sephardic Jewish communities

Spanish and Portuguese Jews constitute a distinct subgroup of the Sephardim. Mostly originating from the Iberian Peninsula, these communities settled mainly in Western Europe and America from the end of the 16th century onwards. Their ritual practices were inspired by those in use in Spain before the Expulsion, but also drew on Spanish-Moroccan and Italian rites.

This extremely generous, entirely volunteer-run, and open multilingual website (suggestions are welcome) aims to share information, traditions, customs, melodies (including recordings), practices, and interests of Spanish-speaking and Portuguese Jewish communities around the world. The different communities are listed by continent, then country and city, and links to their respective websites, when they exist, are systematically mentioned.
